Everyday Life of the great depression
I chose the topic of everyday life of the Great Depression because I find it interesting what Americans had to go through during that time. I can only imagine what they had to go through, just to survive and not die from starvation. During the great depression most people didn't have jobs and didn't have much money to provide for their families. Men, not being able to provide for their families, lost their dinity. They didn't have any hope left. Many farmers lost their farms because of so much plating and erosion made the soil too soft to use. They wouldn't sell their crops because they were not making any profit off their land because the prices had deflated so badly. People were buying things with money they didnt have. They were using credit and were going deeper and deeper into debt. They could only buy what they need. They said, “Never buy anything you can use – only what you can’t live without.” - See more at: http://www.allabouthistory.org/life-during-the-great-depression.htm#sthash.HdF9cCno.dpuf Some people had to resort to stealing food just to survive. Some families even sent their kids away to that they could have a better life and live with people that could take care of them during the Great Depression. They just didnt have the money to take care of themselves and their children. Some teenagers that felt that they were a burden to their families, left to try to find work. Most African Americans were working on farms owned by whites even though they had terrible conditions due to the fact that the landowners lost their land. Women were at home doing things there that needed to be done or they were out working trying to help provide for their families just like the men were. Others if they didnt have jobs and lost everything would wander. They would wander looking for jobs or do something to help their families.
